Dear Members
2021 Men’s Club Champs
We have had to make the unfortunate decision to cancel the 2021 Club Championships that were due to start this Saturday the 7th of May. With the current water damage and potential of cart limitations, our hands were tied in this matter. Your current booking for Saturday the 7th of May will remain the same, the event has been changed to a Single Stableford + 2BBB.
Please note that we are still going to hold the 2022 Club Championships starting October 8th 2022.
Ladies Open Day Rescheduled
Due to the same reasons listed above the ladies 2022 Open Day has been rescheduled to the 13th of September. If you have invited a visitor to play we do ask that you pass this message on to them, otherwise the ladies committee will be getting in contact with all visitors ASAP.
Tuesday the 10th of May has now been set up as a normal ladies Single Stableford with the sheet open now for bookings.
Large G.U.R Areas
There are various spots on the course where large areas of water have gathered (3rd, 10th, 11th, 13th, 17th & 18th fairways). These areas are to be treated as GUR and will be marked by greenstaff accordingly. Given the volume of water on these fairways and the length of the grass in some areas, there is no alternative but to make these areas temporary GUR.
We do remind you that if your group agree that it is known or virtually certain that your ball has become last in G.U.R you are entitled to relief under no penalty.
Course works
Greenstaff will continue to maintain grass heights as best they can while the water dissipates from our course. To put it into perspective we have had a years worth of rain in around three months here at Gosford. While we accept that it is hard going out there at the moment in certain areas, the greenstaff are doing a remarkable job in preparing the course as best they can under the circumstances. You will start to see exploratory work on the 18th, 10th and 11th fairways to try and help these areas recover from what’s listed above, along with hopefully fixing long term issues with drainage and coverage. These projects could easily snowball into massive projects, so please bear with us at this time. While it may not be perfect timing for jobs you may see actioned, unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures, but rest assured Dave Nichols and his team are doing everything they can to get the course back to where it needs to be.
Cart lines/paths
Members who have played today would have noticed the dotted white lines on the front nine holes for golf carts to follow. These lines are in the best spots available on each hole to enable cart golfers to enjoy the game. A game which they haven’t played in over two and a half months in a cart. We ask that all carts follow the white lines at all times and rest assured that the greenstaff will fix any problem areas which may arise from the carts being back on course on the front nine holes. Miclub will be updated each day to let the membership know where carts are on course. Alternatively call the proshop on 4337 3333.
Subscriptions 2022/23
Members subscriptions for the coming year will be sent out shortly. Members please note that all membership groups will have an increase from last years fees and a $50 house account levy will be in place on all memberships. Members house accounts will be credited from July 1st for members to spend through the coming financial year. The $50 will be added into all subscription invoices.
Most membership groups have increased between $50 and $100 across the board and all incidentals (club storage/cart storage etc) has increased in line with CPI (5% or so)
The board felt the need to increase subscriptions this year given the reasons listed below:
- Our insurance bill could potentially double with an expected increase of around 40%
- Electricity bills have increased by around 15%
- Fuel costs have went up over 60% through the year
- All of our trading costs have increased well above CPI
Current Trading
It will come as no surprise that its been tough going for the last three months. We’d like to thank all the members who have supported the club through this tough trading period, and a special thanks to all members who attended our trivia night last Friday and their support during this time. Special thanks to Paul Scholberg for the great amount of work he undertook in running the trivia event.
Even with all the great work going on we still need more members support. Please give us a try if your out for a meal with family or friends. Speak to the team in the proshop about getting some new golf equipment. We have multiple offerings in our bottleshop with menus on the members noticeboard and on miclub members portal. Contact the functions team on functions@gosfordgolf.com.au if you have any life events coming that we can help you with. We have multiple suppliers across multiple industries, if there is anything we can help our membership with, we will do our absolute best to try. Please just start the conversation.
Thank you for your ongoing support
