Dear members

Unfortunately there were a few errors in our Men’s Foursomes event on Saturday 26th September. These errors were both human and digital in nature. As a result of these errors, the competition has been reprocessed and a playoff for our Men’s Foursomes Champions will take place in the coming weeks as a result of a tie.

Proshop staff would like to apologise for any inconveniences caused to members and any confusion around the use of the MiScore App and competition setup. The perfect storm ensued in that we were the first club to run an event like this through the App and problems were to be expected. This was compounded however in human error by proshop staff.  A scorecard error was made in entering scores in the men’s 27 hole Nett event, which greatly effected the results. This was operator error and has been rectified in the current results lists which can be viewed online. All Prizes have been reprocessed and monies allocated accordingly.

These errors and other ones alike could have been avoided in a pre covid world and we have therefore sought to address a few issues in this communique going forward.

October is always a busy month in our golfing calendar with the Mens & Ladies Club Championships. We have noticed a bit of Covid fatigue creep into golf in the last couple of months and believe now is the time to reintroduce some normality to golf proceedings.

Effective immediately the following procedures have been put into effect:

  • Preferred lies on areas cut to fairway height or less (not through the green)
  • We encourage golfers to continue to use the hole pickers to retrieve golf balls from the hole, however there will be no penalties should players wish to handle or remove the flagstick. We would encourage Covid safe practises at all times on the course and encourage players to carry hand sanitiser with them.
  • Sand buckets are back on carts and more are on order for players to use

All players MUST mark another players card or keep track of their score on the MiScore App. We are seeing an increasing number of cards handed into the shop or App scores submitted without accurate markers scores. This makes it near impossible for the Match Committee to regulate competitions effectively. Can all players please ensure that they:

  • Mark each others scores after each hole
  • Verbally confirm at end of round theirs and their markers score
  • Submit scorecards through the scanners
  • Submit scorecards through the App

This will leave a paper footprint and digital footprint for Proshop staff to fix any errors and process competitions efficiently and effectively.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding at this time and will strive as always to provide a safe and fair environment for everyone to enjoy their golf.
